Meadowside Residential Care Home is a small, family-run residential care home for the elderly situated just outside Marlow town centre. It is housed in an elegant, turn of the century Edwardian-style property that has been converted with care and regard for the special needs of elderly people. Our aim is to create a family atmosphere for all our residents. Accommodation is available for up to 14 residents; a small number that enables staff to give the utmost individual care and personal attention to each resident in a homely and happy atmosphere. The building and all rooms are wheelchair accessible, and there is a passenger lift to the first floor to facilitate this. Our rooms are pleasantly decorated, generous in size and comfortably furnished according to residents’ wishes. This includes individual bedside and ceiling lighting, personal television, adjustable central heating and a ‘state-of-the art’ nurse-call system. All rooms are equipped with private ‘self-enclosed’ en suite facilities consisting of a toilet and vanity basin. Some rooms also have an en suite shower. The premises conform to current fire, health and safety regulations. There is ample car parking space for residents’ families and visitors to the front of the property, with staff car parking to the rear.
There is a bright, sunny view of the south-facing patio garden from the communal lounge, which is well-established with a variety of shrubs and scented flowers. There is a variety of seating with tables and parasols. And an aesthetically beautiful central water feature, with ambient lighting, provides a tranquil environment for reflection, chatting and walking.
As part of our service we also provide a wide variety of nutritious meals, in-house laundry, and a range of tailored activities including, word games, music entertainment, arts and crafts etc, with opportunities to participate in person-centered outings to a wide variety of venues – from the shops, cafes to the nearby River Thames at Marlow. Additional services available include a visiting unisex hairdresser, a chiropodist, WiFi for all social media wishes as well as daily newspapers and magazines.
We welcome family and friends to visit on a flexible basis – arranged with management. Visits from well-behaved pets are also welcome at management’s discretion.
Meadowside provides a choice of nutritious cooked food to cater for a wide variety of dietary needs. We regularly meet with our residents to ascertain their particular preferences. Meals are served three times a day to include breakfast, lunch and supper. We also serve late morning tea and biscuits/cake and evening tea/cake according to residents’ wishes. Fresh fruit and healthy drinks and snacks are always available. We promote healthy balanced diets and special dietary needs are also catered for.
We have a full programme of activities at Meadowside. There is something different to do every day. This might include, flower arranging, a review of the weekly news, making and decorating cakes and such like, as well as trips to the local garden centre, cinema or theatre. In the communal TV room, residents can enjoy watching films of their choice or, if they prefer, listening to music while enjoying the view of the garden from the conservatory.

To ensure the highest quality of care at Meadowside there is always a minimum of two carers on duty during the day and at night – an unusually high staff-to-resident ratio which reflects our person-centred care ethos.

As an extension of family life we find that residents settle in very quickly in our home-from-home environment.
